Objectives

We want to answer following questions:

- How do populations live in different regions around the world?
- Which environmental impacts do these ways of life have?
- Can we find on earth sustainable lifestyles examples?
We have created an analysis method in order to compare the ways of life in different villages, regarding environmental impacts and inhabitants wellbeing in order to reach several objectives :
  • to make an inventory of few examples of ways of life, which are more or less sustainable;
  • to characterize environmental impacts, the economical and social aspects of lifestyles we meet;
  • to understand what makes these ways of life sustainable (or not)
  • to find good environmental habits which can be transposed in occidental way of living.

Studied system


We focus on global working of micro-societies formed by village inhabitants. We stay at least one week in each 14 chosen village.We consider that each village has to fulfill 3 main functions for its inhabitants : to feed, to protect and to socialize. The study results show how these functions are fulfilled and what environmental impact they lead to.

In parallel, we analyse the inhabitants' quality of life, using other indicators.
